Okay I'll explain more from the perspective of someone who lives in Europe. It's the UK, so our trains and public transport is still mostly shit, but at least it exists and it's functional. I am not arguing that the UK's public transport is good. It's not.

Traveling to the train station?

Imagine being able to walk there in 10 minutes. And that walk is actually pleasant, enjoyable, and easy. For the most part there are sidewalks everywhere here, when compared to America.

Adhering to the train schedule?

Yeah, makes sense I guess.

Public transport is frequent here. Trains can come every 15 minutes in many places (The merseyrail network for example).

Being limited to going to areas with train stations?

What if everywhere had a train station? Switzerland does this. Here in the UK, you can almost guarantee there'll be a reliable public transport connection (e.g bus/tram etc) from one of our 2576 train stations. And we're just the size of Oregon. Imagine one US state having 2576 train stations? Yeah it's not a problem here

Having to share the space with the public?

Valid criticism. But isn't this a normal thing? Walking around a city, going to/being at work etc? I feel like you'd have to go out of your way to never interact with the general public
