I’m a BArts undergrad and I’m taking Marketing too. My first sem was last year sem 2 so I think I can give you some tips (hope they’re useful lol). You’ll be taking FASS1000 as a core unit and trust me if you handle the deadlines well then you will be fine. Tbh I didn’t listen to over half of the lectures and podcasts because I was not into it, but if you’re into social stuffs these are pretty fine. BArts are full of international students (mostly from China) and some of them will be really bad teammates when it comes to group essays. My advice is to report the bad teammates right away because the staffs are super supportive and they will help you whatever you’re going through. You will be writing essays all the time in this unit so be prepared for it. Essay topics are not too hard but the required readings are massive and totally drove me insane last year.

If you take MKTG1001 this Feb, lol trust me my advice is to find yourself good teammates because mine were assholes and I got to do all the works. Listen to the lecture, ask questions in class, respond to the tutor and be prepared before classes are what you should do to get a D at least in this unit. I took Mr. Watson’s class last year and I kinda recommend him as a nice tutor. For the tests in this unit, you should pay attention to the book not the lecture. Remember that lecture is just created for you to understand the book and questions in the tests are all taken from the textbook. I fucking hate group presentations and reports in this unit because it was not fair since some members didn’t work at all but we still got same mark and the staffs won’t give a fuck if you report them. So try to make friends in that class and choose yourself some good ones to do the group assessments with.
