After browsing through r/A2C on ivy day, I’m considering applying to some ivies.

lesser college reject/yale student now! cornell rejected me but yale accepted me and honestly all of the ivies are so selective that admissions are truly based on fit. a person who is admitted to, say, columbia is going to be far different than someone admitted to brown, solely because institutions look for different types of students. likewise, institutional needs also play a role here—if you’re a state of the art trombone player but cornell already has a state of the art trombone player, they don’t need to accept (and waste a spot) on another but, if harvard doesn’t have a state of the art trombone player, it’s likely you could fit into them building a diverse class. ultimately, acceptance (or rejection) from any ivy is not indicative of how you will fare at another ivy. students on this sub often make the mistake of shotgunning all 8 instead of choosing a couple that closely align with your own personal goals.
