Tbh, yeah I generally agree with this statement. I've never been rich in my life. However, in high school, I graduated with high honors, got into some prestigious universities, and won some decent scholarships. But I couldn't give less of a shit that I did this. Why? Because it made me so fucking miserable that I couldn't make any friends. Because of this, high school, hands down, was the worst four years of my life.

I'd imagine having money and power would be a similar feeling. Money is nothing but a social construct, and thus, is not a natural human need. I think it's better to prioritize the human need to make friends and have a partner over something like money and status (if that makes sense).
