I think we can agree that seeing or even knowing an animal suffer is horrible. You and I, have the amazing ability to know how we affect our world regardless of our instincts to procreate and survive. This is what is truly important to us. Seeing a carrot on out plate comes with far less perceived suffering than a cow growing up in a cramped cage. This is important because we know that a life of a denial of comfort is perceived as bad, and is bad for that matter. We both can make this world a better place by not being like pesky nature that seems to be totally void of this consideration. It's our power to know this and it's our power to stop it.
