You're interpretation is confused. It says a well regulated militia shall not be infringed, but you're interpreting it as regulations shall not be imposed... Unless I'm totally reading you wrong, in which case I apologize.

My view on the matter is it's impossible to write laws for technology that has yet to be invented, therefore the second amendment can only apply to technology that existed at the time of it's writing; eg single shot rifles. Maybe pistols. The United States has been more than accommodating to modern assault weapons for too long.

Its up to our current leaders to ratify new amendments to address modern technology in a responsible fashion. Unfortunately, most of our leaders would rather shirk their responsibilities to the people than risk political fallout. We should applaud those who are willing to face the challenge.
