Feeling very discouraged

Put it in perspective and look at the stats.

Your baby was born with an illness and still managed to be in the 9th centile!

Despite being ill your milk and care helped them to reach the 50th centile (smack bang average) in only 12 weeks.

After treatment, your milk and care helped them reach the 91st centile in just 12 more weeks.

3 months later, while your LO has been figuring out solids, making developmental leaps both physical and mental, they are now around the 75th centile.

Growth is not linear for any LO but for one with an illness it can be even less so. Wet and dirty nappies, having the energy to play and engage when awake, meeting physical and cognitive milestones, and expressing fullness indicators after eating are far better indicators of whether LO is getting enough food.

Often babies will go through periods of lower weight gain

when going through milestones. It's not always concerning. Your pediatrician knows this. They are hedging their bets refering to the cardiologist as they do not know what their expectations are. If you are concerned by the pediatricians comments then speak to the cardiologist to clarify. No need to jump to conclusions and end up feeling worried.

Well done for being there to comfort your baby with your body when they need it.

Well done for supporting their health, growth, and development.
