America's Opioid Epidemic.

I find it hard to believe that others before weren't given stronger pain control for this surgery/recovery. He has been on the support forums and it seems many others got morphine. I know every case is different, maybe the people who got morphine had worse crushing, I don't know. The surgeon stated he didn't want my husband to get into a car accident on the narcotics. He hasn't driven anywhere since the accident. That made me feel as though liability was the main concern, combined with the fact that we live in a rural area with high opiate related deaths making me feel that the doctor's insurance is already high.

As far as going to a PCP, that would be great if we didn't live in America and could do that, but due to living in the USA, we do not have enough money for my self-employed husband to just go to a PCP for annuals when nothing is wrong/the PCP can do nothing for his chronic Lyme disease. We live rurally so it's very difficult/long wait to establish care with a PCP. He has had follow up appointments weekly with the ortho surgeon so that is who he would ask. I've just been giving him kratom because this sad social situation makes us feel very in our own. He's already been horribly horribly failed by doctors with his chronic Lyme disease and after effects of long term antibitotic treated, another issue that you will get a canned response about treatment protocols that worked in the past blah blah three weeks of antibiotics and you're good. I see this as another failure
