I tried using AI. It scared me. - Tom Scott

From my point of view, what's changed is that the "singularity" has gone from something in the indefinite future to something that could feasibly happen within the next ten years.

I'm not predicting that it will, but that things are advancing so quickly right now it's difficult to say anything with certainty (pretty much what Tom said).

The scary thing is that research on AI morality and ethical computing isn't particularly advanced. It's been a few years since I properly looked at things but last time we were at the point where we have a lot to say about what doesn't work (for example Asimov's Three Laws only work if you already have a thorough moral understanding). Unfortunately we don't really have any solid solutions yet either.
