Any career advice/ways to make myself employable?

Hey fellow geographer, do you have any experience with GIS? Like others in this thread I'd not recommend doing a master's degree unless you know it will contribute to your career, but GIS is a growth sector with decent prospects. Councils, the MoD, planning consultancies, engineering firms, conservation groups, housing associations, and utilities companies all use GIS extensively, and it's an important tool for many mainstream business intelligence/analysis roles. It can be worth going back to do an MSc in GIS like I did, but maybe try applying first, since a lot of entry-level roles just want geographic experience and some familiarity with a GIS suite like ArcGIS or QGIS. I'd be happy to chat if you want some advice about getting into GIS.
