Anybody else hate when people tell you not to kys because of other people?

Hey, I’m a studying physiologist here and would like to give a very basic explanation and also give a option to you all if or when you deal with someone suicidal.

Okay, so the first thing is directly replying to the comment above.

  • Alright, so... let’s say you tell someone you are suicidal, right? And they bring this up—family or not—the goal they have is not to be selfish—which it is... it’s human nature to be selfish—but hopefully let you understand you are “loved”. The first thing people tend to assume when you are suicidal is that “you feel alone” or “you feel like you are not loved”... this could be how they feel and in the end be true but even if so the statement is not always going to help. It’s just a non-professionals way of trying to help.

  • Now... what you should do. If someone says they are suicidal you should emphasize with them. Let them know you love them. Explain all the things you find great about them. Make them feel appreciated and loved. Don’t make them feel guilty like the above statement but show them why you appreciate them and why you love them. Tell them you love them. Tell them you understand. It is not always easy dealing with someone suicidal even as a professional but the key is letting them know what THEY mean to YOU and not what THEY will DO to their LOVED ones.

NOTE: caps for emphasizing.
