I believe both Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton were great at debating speeches however Sanders seemed to have a greater apptitude to argue for 3 reasons. He was better at explaining emotion in voice, he seemed more experienced at speech, and he was good at targeting people of the common standard. My first reason is Bernie Sanders seemed to have a emotion in his voice that made it sound much more personal to the audience while Clinton seemed like she just wanted to get her paycheck. His voice was clear and nimble. Bernie is better at articulating his speech as if he was a swan, Hillary is more of an angry crow. Whenever Sanders would speak about the families in Michigan he sounded not like a politician, but more akin to a father that is concerned for his teenage daughter. Sanders appeals to the audience by sounding like he cares about their problems and not like he’s just trying to pull in the votes. This is a good debate technique because if you sound like you actually care, people will respond by believing you are going to care. For this reason, I think Bernie Sanders was better at debating. My second reason for Bernie Sanders being better at debating is that he seemed more experienced in being a politician. Bernie Sanders has been active since the early 60s in civil rights protest and has been a politician for many many decades. Everything he said sounded like it was coming from experience and not a ghost writer. He tried to make it seem as if he has seen problems before and was successful in solving them, even if not true. This is good when debating because people want to vote for the person who knows what they are doing and not the person who is bad at being a politician. Hillary seemed a little less stable as a person and had a hard time answering questions about her shady past while Bernie made his past seem much more successful whenever it came to passing laws and getting it done. For this reason i think Bernie was better at debating with Hillary Clinton. My third reason is that when it came to targeting common people, Bernie was good. Whenever Bernie Sanders would discuss issues he would make it clear that everything he does is for the people and would claim Hillary is doing things for big corporations. Whenever people hear this, it gives them the idea that he wants to help the common person and the common person is who is doing the voting. Whenever Hillary spoke about a certain bill that bailed a company out, Bernie made it seem like she would hurt common people if president. If you make the people listening feel like you’re working for them and not against them, they will favor you over the other person even if you don't. This is why i think Bernie sanders was better at debating against Hillary Clinton. Bernie Sanders had more emotion in his voice, seemed more experienced, and was better at targeting common people. For these three reasons i believe Bernie Sanders was the winner in this debate.
