I would buy an insane amount of land. Huge area. Hire a big construction firm to take on this project. They will use thousands of construction workers working in shifts 24/7 to build:
A huge mansion. outfitted with all the luxuries. Indoor pool, outdoor pool, jacuzzi, bowling alley, gym, home theater, etc. It will be covered in solar panels, or will have a solar grid separately built which will provide more than 100% power for the whole plot. Completely autonomous. (And I can sell power back to the grid after the show to make money)
I would hire a company with the best programmers in the world to design me an AI that can run my entire mansion. In every room will be monitors, interfaces, speakers, microphones, etc. So I can talk with it at all times. It can control everything in the house, from lights, to the microwave, to the locks on the doors. It will have a variety of personalities and voices to match. So I can be in the living room and say, "GLaDOS, please play movie title in the home theater", and then I walk to the theater and it starts playing as I walk in. It also will be designed with an easy to use but complex interface I can use to program new things in the future without needing to dredge through code or hire someone again.
Underneath the mansion will be a big bomb shelter/panic room, about the size of a house. Enough to fit myself and maybe a few friends comfortably. Stocked to the brim with supplies in case of emergencies.
A farm. Vegetables, fruit trees. Chickens, cows, pigs. And the people to run it.
A treehouse like the Swiss Family Robinson's. Complete with contraptions, hammocks, bridges, openable skylights.
An artificial lake with islands. Think Tom Sawyer's island from Disneyland, only a much bigger lake. At least four times the size if not larger. And underground tunnels connecting it all. The lake doubles as a reservoir with a filtration system. In the lake will be all kinds of freshwater fish and plantlife. Along the bottom of the lake will be a track and a bathysphere so I can explore the depths of my lake.
In the lake I would have a pirate ship. It can use the same track as the bathysphere(not at the same time obviously) and sail around the lake.
Either on one of the islands, or maybe on the mainland will be built a forest with life size models of dinosaurs spread throughout. If I feel like it, maybe I can put speakers in them so they can roar from time to time. But at that point why not make them animatronic too, and then I've basically got myself a theme park ride.
A hedge maze, cause why not.
A private airfield and jet.
Next to the airfield I would have a "Spaceport" with a lifesize replica of Serenity that you can walk through and everything. A lifesize replica of the Millennium Falcon.
My own private satellite (and dishes required on the ground) which will be continuously positioned above my land to connect my land to the internet without running cables.
Worker's quarters. A series of luxurious regular sized houses. Much nicer than your average home.
Vacation homes, people can rent to come here for a vacation and rest in a peaceful, relaxing environment. There can be a log cabin themed one in the forest. A beach one by the lake. One can even be on Tom Sawyer's island. A "futuristic" house with a less complicated version of the AI in my own mansion. The Serenity and the Falcon could also double as vacation homes. They can rent the treehouse, and maybe a few others around the property.
A full wardrobe for everything in my estate. A Captain Hook and Jack Sparrow outfits for the pirate ship. A Mal outfit for Serenity. A Han Solo outfit for the Falcon.
Depending on space and amount of money left after all that, other things I could add:
A rapid river coming out of the lake.
A large climbing mountain.
An artificial ski slope.
A series of amusement park rides.
In addition, I would hire some services, like a farmer, maintenance person, pool cleaner, maid, butler, chef. A pilot for my jet. A first mate. Depending on how strict the rules are, I would hire a manager for most of the different areas to keep things in check(so for example Bowling Alley Manager would be a separate job from Spaceport Manager), and each can hire his own staff to assist him if need be.
All of this stuff IS for me. Every house, every inch. What my intentions do with it after the show are irrelevant. I will sleep in every house on a regular basis for the 13 weeks( less than that obviously because they need time to be built). I'll work out a cycle and sleep and use every house at least once if not multiple times depending on how much time is left in the 13 weeks when they are finished.
After the 13 weeks and the show is over, all of this is mine and I am free from the contract.
I now have a kickass place with everything. AND I am making money, selling power, renting vacation houses.
Everyone I hired while still under contract would technically leave but I give them all an offer. If they stay on with me, I will give them their own house from my worker's quarters, food from the farms, power, running water, internet. That's really all anyone needs right? and a small wage for their own use. Since they don't have to worry about paying any bills or rent, they can accept a small wage and will sign a contract with me agreeing to this.
Once I get up and running I can start expanding into things I couldn't add during the show. I basically have my own resort theme park. And I can charge admission to my resort now. People come, stay in the vacation homes, ride the rides, the dino tour, the bathysphere, the pirate ship. Explore the islands, ride the rapids, ski, fish, hike, run through the maze, whatever.
I HAVE EVERYTHING
Once I have a reputation and high demand, I will build a hotel to house more guests. expand the farms and solar grid. Add some stables and horses for more things people can do. Maybe a few more pools around. Build a town square with shops people can buy trinkets and souvenirs. Build a pirate themed town on the island with similar shops but all piratey. Build a futuristic town in the Spaceport. Add more rides and attractions. Buy more land next to it if I have to to keep expanding.
I now basically have my own Disneyland, but more of a resort than a theme park. I am rich, I have a kick ass mansion(the only part of my property I would keep completely for myself) a kick ass resort which at this point could probably even be considered a separate country since I am completely autonomous.
Ahhh, would be so awesome.
