We are looking for a few new rankers for /r/nba Power Rankings this upcoming season

> Write a couple sentences about what you like about /r/nba and what is something you would change?

  • /r/nba is no secret to the world. The subreddit has witnessed shoutouts from Grantland, a certain General Manager posting an innocuous comment on a thread pertaining to himself, and even recently landed one redditor a contract with NBA to design graphics. Although I am not a frequent poster, I have following this subreddit for quite some time, and what has once been a small e-community has burgeoned into one that amazingly has established a footing in the realm of basketball. I am certain that there are many reasons that others gravitate to /r/nba, but the reason I religiously check this subreddit is due to the multitude of content for all ranges of NBA enthusiasts, from hardcore fans to those that are beginning to discover the wonders of basketball. There is no dearth for content, and I can rely on /r/nba to provide me with up-to-date news, advanced statistics, oft-forgotten stories, obscure happenings in the NBA world, memorable basketball moments, memes, and of course everyone’s favorite or most hated off-season non-tangential topics (Lebron playing in sandals comes to mind). Despite my partiality for /r/nba, I would like to see the clutter removed from the front page. Often, multiple posts of the same topic, news, or highlight finds its way to the top of the subreddit making it unnecessarily difficult to find other content. Moreover, I believe that misleading titles, particularly quotes taken out of context or those that do not reflect the actual idea of the article, should be abolished from /r/nba in order to provide a more pleasurable and expedient experience for all those that peruse these parts of reddit.

> Where would you currently rank the your team (must have flair) in a Powerrankings today?

  • I would currently rank my NBA team (GO CELTICS!!!) at #14. Having had tempered my expectations after watching the “fireworks” that Danny Ainge promised in the offseason, I believe the current Boston team can contend in the historically weaker Eastern Conference, and represents a formidable opponent to some of the lesser Western Conference teams. Despite the Celtics’ lack of star-power and its glaring weakness outside of the PG and PF position, Boston’s unselfish play guided by Brad Stevens will definitely shock those that doubt the club’s performance following the departure of the core members of the 2008 Championship team.

> How often do you come on /r/nba?

  • Admittedly, I am on /r/nba far more than I should be. It is first thing I check in the morning, after the world news, and I often find myself periodically viewing the subreddit even while at work (my boss is pretty lax). I easily spend at least an hour perusing this thread throughout the day.*

> How many games do you watch on average per week during the season? How many NBA games?

  • I never kept track of how many games I watch each season. However, if I were to approximate, I would have to say about 10 a week, and this is a conservative estimate. I usually watch every Celtics game and nationally televised marquee matches. Additionally, I watch almost every Lakers (cue the jeers) and Clippers games since I live in the Southern California and most basketball aficionados here tend to discuss the “purple and yellow” or Lob City. I at least watch highlights and read about all games during the season because I am an also an avid participant of fantasy basketball.

> If you weren't selected who would you select as a representative?

  • If I were not to be selected, I would anavrin303 primarily due to the fact that s/he is a Boston native and also has the advantage of being a ticket holder, which may lend itself to greater insight into the team that might not be apparent to television viewers.

Postscript: I believe that I would be able to provide Powerrankings for the Clippers since I watch almost all of their games as mentioned in one the questions. If neither team is available, I would not mind writing about any of the other teams, as simply being offered an opportunity to help out the /r/nba community would be nothing short of an awesome experience!
