Are people really ok with preorder exclusives?

Video games also used to cost $60 back in 2000,

No they didn't. 50$ or less was the standard price back then. I remember when people were upset that the Xbox 360's games were going to be 60$ starting price.

The entire Xenosaga series 2001~2006 were 50$ a piece at release.

You can find old articles about this http://xbox.about.com/od/gamingculture/a/pricerant.htm like this one.

And this forum post http://www.gamespot.com/forums/xbox-association-1000003/how-much-should-xbox-360-games-cost-26327000/

Remember that video games also used to come out static and any bugs were just labelled as "easter eggs" because they couldn't patch them.

Games back then were nowhere near as buggy as they are now. Simpler engines, simpler game design, less graphics, ect. Plus most games were error checked heavily.

Games back then rarely needed bug fixes and patches the way they do now. Even Japanese import games had good translations with few spelling errors.

And no they didn't label them as easter eggs, they called them Glitches. There used to be full game sites about cheatcodes and glitches. People would have to go out of their way to find these glitches and bugs. Now these bugs are so easy to find. And back in the day Easter Eggs were still easter eggs, little hidden things that you had to go out of your way to find.

Video games used to come out as static products, because they were far less problematic and far more complete than they are being released now.

Back then you could use cheat codes, and other stuff still hidden in the game to unlock extras. Remember that good ole konami code?

Gamewinners.com is a place my brothers and sisters and I would visit all the time to get cheat codes and fun stuff for games we owned.

Hell you can go and get emulators that run old games and see how much less buggy games were back then than they are now. And they're being emulated.
