Do you remember the times you lied to yourself when you were a kid, wtym this game is bad? No! It has my favourite characters in it!

but no game has "broken gameplay". like, "broken" as in literally unplayable? that never happens outside of indie early releases, and definitely never happened before Steam. some games are buggy messes, but sometimes you like the game so much you can see past it. Bloodborne had loading times long enough to develop a sequel during and a frame rate that gave me a seizure but i didn't give a fuck cause the game was so good.

you can observe things about a game, but you can't say whether they're objectively good or bad to someone, and especially not enough to say whether the game's empirically "good" or "bad". it's all opinion. i've played games where the concesus is that they're shit for whatever reasons and i've loved them to bits, and i've played games that are universally lauded as masterpieces that i've thought were jars of aged piss. nobody's wrong and nobody's right.
