Are players' content expectations unrealistic, not just for GW2 but across the board for *any* MMORPG?

Yes. Very unrealistic expectations. I feel like many of them are surely people who would rather be playing co-op or single players games rather than MMOs. MMOS have always been about using what is provided to make friends and have adventures. The nature of the adventure may vary, but there is a reason a good guild can make a game memorable for people and make them love playing. And it is because MMOS are about community and exploring a world with other people. If you run out of things you want to do alone, can you really not find things you enjoy doing with your friends and guild mates?

Even on the rare occasion I would fully play an MMO's content, receiving all the rewards I could possibly think to get in all forms of play, I would always have fun helping guildies or other friends achieve their goals and just having a good time messing around in game with people in the meantime. It was never "man, when is the next content patch/expansion going to drop? I am getting bored." It was "What, more things to explore with my friends on top of all the existing fun? Awesome!"

MMOs are social experiences.
