Why are there SO MANY ASSHOLES in the Mexican drug cartels? | ¿Por qué HAY TANTOS PENDEJOS en los carteles mexicanos de la droga?

Basic explanation: As other user posted here, the old honor code having family and uninvolved civilians off-limits has been broken by the newer generations that lack experience and self-control and that, unlike their predecessors, came of age accustomed to excesses and impunity, the later thanks to collusion with authorities, both local and foreign. This, the wars between factions as old leaders die or get jailed, plus the brutal competition to service the ever hungry USA market, that provides more and more sophisticated weaponry and now and then takes sides and allies with some cartels, has created a savage ambience where the only way to attain respect is to prove to be the most ruthless butcher.

Add personal grudges, need for avenging previous slayings, and psychotic pathologies from PTSD-affected members that fall into substance addiction themselves (another broken rule from old school gangs) and you end up with the savagery we're witnessing now.

Of course there are factions and groups that operate with modern logistics, less overt violence and efficient marketing strategies, but their high level bosses are usually the Armani-clad, highly educated, politically-connected characters that own banks and pharma conglomerates and can be seen smiling in meetings with our elected officlals & authorities, so they have no need to resort to basic forms of persuasion to show their power.

More sinister explanation: there are death cults all over the world right now that fight for power & influence over the masses via strategic acts of terror, war and suffering. Crime and death is not enough fro them; horrid blood sacrifices must be enacted upon increasingly ample sectors of the public, and now, with the vast power of modern communication tools, the impact of these acts resonates globally. These cults promote and fund this via their control of criminal elements and extremists of every side of the political spectrum. Yes, their beliefs may sound archaic and retrograde, but if they believe it an act upon them, they become a very real danger to all of us.
