We're programmed by media and apps on a daily basis. Memes are propaganda. Regardless of political affiliation, memes and bias follow certain predictable subroutines, making it simpler for our brains to process information. It's one reason why it's so difficult to have a real discussion about certain topics. It's easier for our brains to engage our bias, ideals and firm belief subroutines, rather than accept or attempt to process novel information. If an entity is going to try to program you, the easiest way to accomplish that is to present the information through familiar channels and formats which appeal and add to existing biases. It's much more difficult to try and deconstruct a bias or belief.
