Why aren't plywood prices coming down?

First, I just bought 4x8s of 1/2" Baltic for $103. But that's from a wholesaler. Second, my prices started climbing to the point of some doubling long before Russia invades Ukraine. Construction grade started climbing through the roof in early to mid 2020, cabinet world really started getting hit about 14 months ago. I remember specifically because I got a heads up from my supplier, and I was able to buy a unit of 3/4 and one of 1/2" maple armor core in March of 2021.

Loggers, mill workers, wholesalers, and wholesale buyers haven't been getting much of a raise, but retailers and timber companies are recording record profits. Not sure what that could possibly mean, but it's an interesting detail, huh?
