While discipline and a very rigid adherence to his philosophy are hallmarks of his career, he is a very astute tactical coach. His teams have a very clear tactical system of play that centers on controlling the ball, building phases of play, ball circulation and triangulation (Guardiola was influenced heavily by this element).

He loves wingbacks and wide forwards (one could argue he was the 1st proponent of the inverted winger such as Arjen van Robben) , ball playing center backs etc

But yeah, he was incredibly strict on the philosophy and approach to football, and gave a lot less freedom to individual brillance than in other Dutch systems such as Total Football
