My favorite story has to be the first time I ever made it to Dominus. I need to preface that back then I only ever played when a RL friend was online to play with, we usually were both drinking, and usually tired, and that is why it's my favorite moment over anything else so far. So, we are steadily going through The Scepter of God, and this is the first time I believe we ran into the proximity shield mechanic, and we both mention something sarcastic along the lines of "Can't wait to see this mechanic on a boss."
So by the time we finished the first phase of the fight we had completely forgotten about proximity shield, being the master vidya gamers we are, we both see big bright ball around the boss and mutually yell at each other to run away from the no doubt giant AOE to come. I spam Whirling Blades to the opposite side of the tower top whilst my buddy Lightning Warps right next to me. In unison we both say "Oh shit" as we mash 1-5 followed by the sharp "Uh" sound I'm pretty sure we've all made dying. Needless to say we go back in and die again. After death number two and a few choice words about Dominus we go back in with the plan being "Just stand in his face." So we do so and see the 'AOE' start yet we survive it. I then realize it's the shield that's helping us and the rain hurting us and said as much, and soon after my friend yells "Thanks for the umbrella asshole!". waking his fiance up as Dominus is expunged from Wraeclast. We laugh an inexcusable amount and then I hear the distinct noise of a skype call ending, house phone rings, "She turned the computer off." is what I'm greeted with followed by more laughing. I stay on the phone with him and tell him the loot we got, the talk to Daliah(sp), the credit roll. It may seem stupid and nooby, which it of coarse, but it's just one of those pointless experiences you have in your brain forever. Whenever I kill Dominus(I know we're not the first or most unique)but I can't help but think "Thanks for the umbrella Asshole."
Sorry for the wall of text, but it just came out.
As for a tip that I use I always use a rotation of 2 chaos recipes going at a time in a tab along with GCP and Glassblowers ingredients. And be vigilant with your Masters daily's they pay off big time with daily currency trade and possible craftables. Other than that I just farm with my fingers crossed.
