In south asian countries. As soon as the baby cries The mothers would take her boob out without hesitation/thinking and put it in baby's mouth even in public. After a few moments of crying inspite of that boob in mouth the mother would realise the baby is not hungry and look for other reasons like wet diaper or poop in diaper etc. This incidents are from my childhood days.

These days people are learning from America and have become a more shy and cover the baby with a towel or cloth.

But 20 years ago. Nope, no shame, nothing to shy about. Just take the boob out. In a bus, train anywhere. No restrictions. I think public breastfeeding is only looked down upon in America.
