Biden wants to bring back the expanded Child Tax Credit

Yeah your expenses aren’t right but that’s really irrelevant. If someone earned that money it’s there’s and other shouldn’t be counting it. Personally my wife and I (34 & 28) make more than that and we live modestly (in FL) and we aren’t “rich”. We are comfortable and able to save a lot. We can have nice things if we want them and will be able to retire early (in our 40’s) but that’s because we EARNED it. We are both in careers where we derive our own income/worth. Our hard work and relentless effort has put us in this position. My family and I (as well as anyone else) shouldn’t be penalized for that. When others were clipping a $50k salary I wasn’t making any money ($47k in total for the first 2 years) for awhile as I was building my business up. After the second year I made $73k, 4th year 102k, 5th year $202k. It took me 5 years cumulatively to catch up/pass everyone who elected to just start clipping a salary. After that, my gains have been exponential. During that initial growth period I was in debt, worked 60+ hours a week, slept at my office multiple times, didn’t go on vacations, invested money I didn’t even have to bet on myself and to try to grow my business, and all the while i didn’t get any handouts or government benefits. I struggled but I knew it would be worth it and it was but it was difficult getting going. I put in the time and sweat equity on the front end where many wouldn’t, so now I should be penalized because it’s not fair? People would feel differently if they had made the same sacrifices and were now earning a great living for their family.

I understand people aren’t happy with their incomes/lifestyles but that not my income brackets or even the guys making multi millions fault. This child like mindset in this country is sad (“they got more than me so we should take there money because it’s not fair”) and disturbing at best. It’s effectively asking for socialism and shows a very lazy mentality. There is plenty of career fields out there, sales positions, and effort left on the table that people could be using that could allow them to earn more. If the CEO of your company is making $1M a year and you feel under paid at your salary then QUIT. You go be your own CEO and determine your own worth. My wife was making $60k a year at her job and always complained about it. I told her many times what I’m saying here, don’t let anyone tell you what you are worth. Go start your own company or go work at a firm where it’s commissioned based. She did that and tripled her income in 2 years. People have to change their mentality on this and be willing to put in the effort necessary if that want to reap the benefits. Not penalize the ones that do because they are jealous.

That said, I think there should be additional tax brackets but the next level should be implemented at net income reported over $5M.

Sorry for the long write up, I’ve been on both sides of the coin in my life so i wanted to share. I’ll probably get downvoted to oblivion because I’ve shared that I make good money, but hopefully this is encouraging for someone because you can always earn more if you are willing to put in the work. Also I hope it helps people look at this topic from a different perspective.
