The economy is a mess, or business sector is a mess....So, maybe the people who gravitate toward handling it are bad at it? The US isn't representative of the entire world. In the US economists might skew conservative, so might business leaders - but that's int he US. It is not a universal truth. And it is something that is changing, thankfully - in large part because the practices put in place here are failing massively.

Most Americans are deeply financially illiterate and don't realize just have phenomenally screwed they actually are. At this rate, most middle class Americans are going to slide into poverty in retirement. Read up on the coming retirement crisis. People are so screwed.
