Boeing is top winner of state, local tax breaks

Why does the fact that corporate welfare recipients' have undue leverage and cronyism taking from taxpayer dollars offend you?

It offends me because a large company that does whatever it can to avoid paying taxes shows a lack of character and a willingness in engage in crooked dealings, despite whether said loophole is legal or not . It is a persons/companies (whats the difference in the eyes of the law?) civic duty to pay taxes because these taxes are what allows us to have essential government services and continue (and hopefully improve) the quality of life that we all enjoy and/or seek to attain.

You keep using this word "corporate welfare" and it is laughable. Your argument is so tainted with rhetorical fallacies that its hard not to imagine you as a freshmen at UW regurgitating the arguments and viewpoints of your betters.

Are you even educated enough to comprehend the corrupt linkages between defense industries and their usurpation of public funds on wasteful programs lacking oversight?

Maybe, I don't view myself as a genius the same way you think of yourself when your looking at mirror while masturbating. However the corrupt linkages and the waste of public funds is more complex than your argument (BOEING + CORPORATE WELFARE + MILITARY INDUSTRIAL= cronyism). Not only do an enormous portion of American citizens depend on the defense industry for work, but these defense contractors serve a larger purpose then producing war materials. What about all the cutting edge R&D that comes from these companies that have massive civilian applications? The Internet? GPS? Duct Tape? Microwave Oven? Feminine Hygiene Products? and Super Glue? All the results of companies doing contracting work for the military. So I do think that military contractors have an important role to play in America's economy. However all this R&D can only occur if they are making enough money to support these experimental programs.

Sure there is wastage, but politicians are just as guilty (if not more) of wasting tax dollars than large military contractors. Politicians are easier to discipline then these companies, but perpetuating waste and manufacturing useless shit ensures people will have jobs and therefore the politicians jobs will be secure.

You're delusional and illiterate All you've done is spew uneducated ad-hominem nonsense. Facts don't matter to illogical reactionaries like you.

You are hilarious.

EDIT: To add a point, the military industry is about as anti-free market as you can get. Social democrats and libertarians can both agree that the corruption and corporate welfare of the defense industry is anti-free market and a leach on public resources.

Not true and very exaggerated. The process of obtaining a military contract is difficult, buts lots of small businesses are able to compete and flourish for contracts. Maybe you could explain why the military industry is anti-free market instead of grand-standing and pretending that your a genius with your ambiguous rhetoric.

You missed the whole point of this, and its that Boeing can threaten to leave in order to force the state to give it huge tax breaks. Yes its unfair and a shitty byproduct of the system we live in, however if you were to weigh the costs of Boeing leaving the Puget Sound versus the cost of granting tax breaks, you too would come to the conclusion that the tax breaks is the lesser of two evils.
