The call from officer Adcock

OK, here's a summary of Young Lee's and Officer Adcock's testimony "regarding the timeline for phone calls made on the afternoon of 1/13.* There's a lot more ground covered in Young's testimony at the second trial but I'm limiting my scope here. Young and Adcock testified on 12/10/1999 at trial 1. Young testified on 1/28/2000at trial 2, Adcock on 1/31/2000.

The most interesting thing I see is that both Young and Adcock say that the call to the cops was around 6 pm on 1/13. Per Adcock's missing person's report, the time of the incident was 17:12 (5:12 pm), so about 50 minutes earlier than either of those witnesses admit the police were called.

Witness Topic Trial 1 Trial 2
Young Lee Who lived at the Lee Residence? Grandparents, two cousins, Hae and Young Grandparents, two cousins, Hae and Young
Young Lee What time did you receive a phone call that Hae had not picked up cousins? Around 3:30 Question not asked; Hae would have picked up cousin(s) around 3:00 or 3:15
Young Lee What happened after the school called? "after a while," called LensCrafters, Aisha and WHS. Mom was worried, said call police. At Trial 2, Aisha testified that Hae's mom called, not Young Called grandfather to go to school & pick up cousin; grandmother called Mom because she was worried about Hae 1 Called his mom who said "call Lenscrafters."No mention of calling WHS or Aisha before calling police.
Young Lee What time were the police called? Not asked "Around 6, I believe." 2
Ofc Adcock Did you get a call on 1/13 to respond to the Lee household at around 6 pm? Yes, I was dispatched to the Lee household 2 Yes - but no mention of what time
Young Lee What happened after police called? Officer Adcock arrived, called the places Lee had called, took a report. Looked around for phone #s, "found her diary where I got the...where I found the phone numbers."
Ofc Adcock What Adcock did after he arrived at Lee residence took basic info and obtained phone numbers from Young Lee. Called an unidentified number (LensCrafters? WHS?); called Aisha; Called Adnan, using number that Young retrieved from Hae's room at about 6pm; Took down basic information and asked for phone numbers of any friends who could be contacted. Young Lee provided number for Don and Aisha, he got those numbers from an address book
Ofc Adcock Describe call to Adnan Adnan said he saw victim at school on 1/13, was supposed to get ride, Adnan asked if report would be made. No further substance to conversation 3. Call lasted 3-5 minutes. Identifies 6:24 call in cell record as "possible" call to Adnan on 1/13 Dialed number from diary between 6-6:30p, got Adnan's full name, address, DOB. Adnan said he saw Hae at school, was supposed to get ride but was detained.
Ofc Adcock Phone calls on 1/13 on Cross He knew that he was calling Adnan before he dialed; He was given Don's actual number by Young Lee; He called Aisha; he did not have Young Lee get on the phone and verify that he was speaking to Adnan or Aisha Did not know who he was calling when he dialed the diary number; Called Aisha after he called the diary # and reached Adnan. Made no note in his report of duration of call w/Adnan.
Young Lee Efforts to contact other acquaintances? Grandmother brought down Hae's diary 4, Lee found a number and called it. Odd testimony 5. First called Aisha, then Adnan. Got Adnan's # from diary but thought it was Don.
Young Lee The Diary Phone # Asked to speak to Don but after speaking, knew it was Adnan, recognized one another's voices. Same testimony but says they talked "a while" before recognizing each other's voices.
Young Lee Describe call to Adnan Asked if he knew where Hae could be, Adnan said 'No' and that was the entire conversation, very short. Same, except now call lasts 2-3 minutes.

(1) Interesting testimony here:

KM asks what Young did after the school called, he says:

YL: I called my grandfather so that he could go to the school to pick her [the cousin] up, and the time passed. My mom met -- my grandmother called my mom that she was worried about her, and my mom told me to call her at work place to see if she was there?

The "?" is in the transcript - I assume it indicates a questioning tone in Young's answer, which is noteworthy. Is he asking if he got the answer right?

More interesting to me is that he starts to say his mom "met..." then corrects to say his grandmother called his mom. No clue who mom might have met and why that info was supposed to be excluded from testimony.

(2) Officer Adcock's report indicates that the time of the incident was 5:12pm. There is one other time on the report, indicating duration of 7:30 - 17:32. It seems that dispatch was contacted at 5:12 pm and Adcock arrived at 5:32 pm. This directly contradicts Lee's and Adcock's testimony at trial 2.

(3) Contradicts RC's blog entry stating that Adnan remembers Adcock asked lots of questions and that's why he (Adnan) asked about a police report.

(4) Unclear whether this was before or after Adcock arrived.

(5) Testimony on Direct is confusing (paraphrasing testimony from pg 11 in Dec 10 transcript):

YL:I believe I was calling Adnan

KM:Did you know who Adnan was at that time?

YL: Used to be Hae's new boyfriend

KM: Why did you think that was Don's number?

YL: His name was all over the page.
