I want to be recognized in particular ways -- do I have the right to demand that others recognize me as such? I think it depends on whether I really am what I want to be recognized as.
So what does it mean to really be a woman, vs really being an African-American? Why is it that woke liberals will accept that a transgender person really is their declared gender, but deny that a transracial person really is their declared race?
You keep saying, well, there's such a thing as being born with a female brain, but there's no such thing as being born with a black brain. I say that's implicitly introducing a distinction between essence and accident -- a woman simply is a woman, while a black person only becomes black through the accidents of culture.
This logic is consistent if you maintain that being a trans woman is a biological property, but falls apart once you say a person can be whatever gender they declare themselves to be.
