Ideal Male Living Space

Feel obligated to comment because I lived near here for a year when I was in high school. The image shown isn’t a typical rural Japanese home it’s a vernacular rural architecture called nōka (農家). This one in particular is actually part of a UNESCO site that consists of three preserved rural villages in northern Gifu prefecture and Toyama prefecture. It’s quite beautiful but also a bit overrun by Chinese tourists. It’s definitely worth the visit if you’re in the area I recommend going to Gero and Takayama. Takayama is touristy town as well but is also preserved architecturally with the vernacular urban architecture called machiya (町屋)。It’s well known for its festivals. Gero is more lowkey, but is regarded as one of the best 3 hot springs in Japan, so you’re more likely to find domestic tourists.
