Cassegrain Question

I’ve recently started using my 8” Meade LX200 Classic that’s been in a box in the closet for far too long. Like you, I’ve been using my dob and refractor for the better part of 20 years. Picked up the LX200 as it was a great deal from a good friend that was upgrading to a 10” LX200.

This specific LX200 is about 20-ish years old or so and still tracks well enough in alt/az mode with a basic two-star alignment that I’ve been able to put an object in the eyepiece, go inside to warm up, make a cup of coffee, take my time drinking my cup of coffee, and when I finally wandered back outside after about 15 minutes, the object was still in the eyepiece. It’s awesome.

So while I can’t speak to the accuracy of the newer scopes, I love my LX200. Goto and tracking are awesome.

Clear skies!
