Casual racism yet again in r/publicfreakout

Oh! That's quite different and I tend to agree. I mean one thing that immediately struck me as inane about the idea of giving reparations to all african americans was just the logistics of it. Who gets how much? If you're half black, or even white with black ancestry, do you get a proportional amount? Is it paid per year of enslavement per relative? Etc.

In contrast, your argument and desires seem very reasonable.

The only legitimate reason I can see why not to do it is because it is so long after the fact that it will still be more racism, for the government to target black people specifically even for positive purposes. Some people would benefit who perhaps shouldn't, while others won't benefit enough who should get more. I can see why governments are unwilling to even approach the subject. I agree something should be done but I'm not sure what is the right way to go.

Would it be good enough for you if the government were to enact measures to help all impoverished communities a lot more? That way, it would still be black communities that benefit the most from whatever gets implemented no?

Please forgive any ignorance I may be showing. I am blessed that no such concerns are relevant to me in my life but I still want to understand so I can stand on the right side of any relevant issues.
