Venting to the void-

The only thing holding us back is not having a house, and the frustrating thing is we DO own a house. The problem is, it’s in the city we used to live in, and we had to move to an apt in another city for my husband’s work.

In a better market, we would just sell the other house and buy one here. The market is so unfortunate right now that it makes more sense for us to rent out the other house until interest rates drop, then sell it and buy a house here.

Of course our current tenant moved out at the worst possible time so we are currently paying both rent and a mortgage right now, and of course we just had to replace the HVAC to the tune of 3,000. It’s hard to save for another down payment while handling all of the other costs.

We both have baby fever and want to start our family. We are in a 1 bedroom apartment that my husband feels that we could have a baby here and be happy until they start crawling. That means a few months for TTC + 9 months + ~1 year before crawling. 2 years seems like enough time to get housing sorted, I just had these visions of having a nursery all prepared for our baby one day.

We have a big overseas trip this spring that I’m probably going to say eff it and start TTC when we get back. I’m just so worried that this crappy housing market isn’t going to turn the corner in the 2 years needed for us to sell the other house and get one here before our baby needs space.

Is anyone else waiting on the market like this? I’m here for your venting!
