Is it christ like to be homophobic?

Whatever follows is my personal view. If anyone feels that I'm in the wrong, please do correct me. I would appreciate the correction immensely

"Homophobia" is a problematic term for me because its contemporary usage seems to function on a black/white binary. What I mean is that nowadays, you are automatically labelled as a "homophobe" if you don't support homosexual unions or homosexuality in any and all contexts.

Now, a Christian who lives in the secular world ought to be very conscious of homosexuality within various contexts:

  • In a non-Church and secular context, a Christian ought to treat homosexual persons as they treat anyone else. What they do with their lives is their choice and ultimately between God and them. Treat homosexual persons with the common courtesy that every single person is entitled to. If you can't show common courtesy to people, regardless of their sexual orientation, you really need to work on being humble; humility/modesty is an essential Christian Virtue.

  • In a Church Context, however, homosexuality is absolutely forbidden. In fact, sexual immorality of any kind is absolutely forbidden. In the Church context, a Christian is obligated to behave as it is stated in 1 Corinthians 5: 9 – 13.

Now obviously if a Christian is repentant of their behavior and stops the behavior that they were ex-communicated for and is welcomed back into the Church, then you treat them as you would treat any other fellow Believer. However, a non-repentant Christian, who does not repent and is not welcomed back into the Church ought not to be associated with in the Church context AND the secular context.
