Why are people against groups or closed practices?

One it’s a lazy answer,

Not really. You're just being dismissive of it.

sometimes you need to restrict things so you can learn the basics first.

This is bullshit. You don't need to restrict access to advanced topics in order to learn the basics. If you're just starting out learning a new language, there's no to just lock away access to information about advanced grammar. Same with, say, motorcycle maintenance. Just because I'm only figuring out how to change the oil doesn't mean I can't get a guidebook on the more advanced stuff. It might not be of much help early on, but it doesn't need to be a guarded secret.

Second some things are dangerous, sorry it’s true. I’ve learned things that aren’t dangerous but can be used dangerously.

This is a lazy answer. The answer is always just "iT's ToO dAnGeRoUs", without any further explanation. Never any suggestion of what sort of harm might happen if the unworthy learn of your DaNgErOuS sEcReTs. What, is there some combination of herbs that, if I burn it at the wrong time of the lunar cycle, it'll make someone's head blow up? Anyone who knows that intent is key knows that this, too, is bullshit, because you can't just accidentally intend to be dangerous.

Third not all info is for everyone, if I said I’m not gonna give you my addresses and social is that gatekeeping?

Do you know the origin of the term "gatekeeping"? Like, do you know the analogy the word is referring to?

Finally if someone is not willing to put in the work would you want them around. If you did a project with someone and they did nothing at all Should they get equal credit?

This has nothing to do with gating off access to information.
