Civil partnerships: Law to be changed for mixed-sex couples

Because a lot of people myself included don't believe in marriage as a concept,I don't want to change my name and neither does my girlfriend, neither of us believe in the church, neither of us want a big fancy reception in front of hundreds people as we both suffer from anxiety.

So really it'd be a sham of a marriage that would cost us a fortune and make us both miserable,or we could go down the registry office which is fine, but isn't something for us personally.

I also don't think because of this that if either one of us dies tommorow that I should have no entitlement to what she's earned and vice versa, marriage is a concept less and less people are believing in and alternatives are needed, the peak was just after the wars and the numbers have been going down drastically since then as more and more generations have grown up as part of a divorced family.

I'd rather do away with marriage and keep civil partnerships personally, but that's very unlikely to happen.
