this is unthinkable today

This was never ever ever ever ever true in the USA

How are people ignorant of the Great Depression????!!!! The dust bowl??? That life was NOT COMFORTABLE.

Read the GRAPES OF WRATH and tell me that was comfortable

My grandfather worked in a factory and had 6 kids before WWII

In his ENTIRE LIFE he never has enough money to buy a car. He turned his front and back yards into gardens where he grew things like potatoes and cabbage because he didn’t have enough money after buying meat for the kids. My mother raised goats and chickens which her parents forced her to, you know, kill for dinner.

My grandmother sewed everyone’s clothes because they only had enough money to buy jeans or overalls for the factory or coats. Everything else you made from cloth, which included turning sacks of grain into dresses for toddler girls. Sack dresses. Sound comfortable?

Can any of you understand that people without degrees didn’t have an easy life ever? Not ever? My grandfather died in 1970 and never once bought a car snd he was a union factory foreman!
