Is classical music haram?

Let's make this simple:

1) What are the positions according to the Imams of the Four Madhhabs? Not their students, or their follows, but the scholars were established the principles of the schools.

2) To say that Rasulullah, sallallahu alayhi wasallam "listened" to music is offensive to his noble character. It suggests that he engaged in something futile and totally irrelevant to Deen, when it's been narrated that even since he was a young man, Allah Ta'ala protected him from haraam activities). The ahadith that describe accounts where Rasulullah, sallallahu alayhi wasallam was in the presence of musical instruments do not mean that it's permissible, as proven by the positions of the scholars of Fiqh.

The hadith aside, I invite anyone to present a case where a Sahaabah, radiyallahu anhum listened to music, or even a Tabi'een, or a Tabi Al Tabi'een?

The beating of the Duff drum is not for entertainment or to relax when studying, its use is for either jihad or nikah.

There is a book titled "The Slippery Slope" that is said to give a well-researched account of the scholarly opinions according to the Four Madhhabs.

It's an unsettling sight to see so many people pass judgment regarding our Deen to their "opinion", despite the sacrifices of the Our Nabi, Sallallahu alayhi wasallam and the generations that followed his. It's a shame to imagine the lives that were lost, the wealth that was spent, the pain felt in order to open the territory of the Earth to Islam, all for someone to place themselves in opposite to all of it because of their "Opinion".

May Allah grant us correct understanding and Imaan. Ameen!
