Correct me if I'm wrong and I'm not some men's right activist or misogynist that thinks men are better than women but I do think men should be paid more than single women that are yet to marry. However if you are a divorcee/single mother/widow, I think the pay should be equal. And I say it for one reason and that is the men have a sh*t ton of things to take care of. Its an obligation. A woman isn't obligated to take care of anything prior to marriage and while still being married. That is the sole responsibility of the Father and the Husband. The situation is different when you are a widow, single mother and/or a divorcee. Its a lot tougher and most often than not, no ones there to help her at all.

Just tinkering with the idea, don't go guns blazing on me. Also, yes I realize its a stupid thought in the 21st century western world where most of ya'll are from. Its a requirement at this point for the Husband and the Wife to work without having any financial constraints. I understand that its not the 70s and 80s. But I was just speaking in general
