CMV: I get the impression that Elvis Presley wouldn't have been so popular if he weren't white/caucasian.

I was referring more to his cultural impact (i.e., why he is considered the king of rock and roll in American culture)- I think that may have a lot to do with race. He was popular because he was an incredibly talented and good looking man. BUT, there were a lot of attractive rock and roll legends during that time that, arguably, didn't reach the same level of popularity. Given that the majority of which were black, it kinda makes me think that race probably factored in quite a bit.

I concede to your last point though, perhaps this isn't the most appropriate subreddit without having stronger stance. I will likely end up deleting it by tomorrow, but I just want to see what more people have to say before I do that.
