Illegal immigration.

Those FOR: Big companies are for it - it keeps costs down. Liberals are for it, as they thinking being against illegal immigration is racist/xenophobic. So patently odd, liberals are in bed with the same companies they claim to abhor.

Those AGAINST:
Racists - yes, of course there are some narrow minded fuck nuts who are racist. They're a very small percentage though.

Law abiding citizens - this is me and many Americans. We like law and order, we appreciate the rules of law and society. We can form a line like it's an Olympic sport. We pay our taxes - and get pissed at tax cheats.

Disconnects:
First off, being against illegal immigration does not make one by default racist, xenophobic, or anti immigration. But this narrative has been allowed to spread for years and years. Most here have experienced this in real life. Speak up in a conversation against illegal immigration and somebody immediately calls you a racist.
This is patently disingenuous, and is a prejudiced belief. Just about nobody wants to stop immigration by default, we just want it to be a legal and controlled process. If/when the economy is in the shitter, we'd like to slow down new entries so the over supply in the labor force isn't made worse.

Myth: Illegal immigrants do the work that nobody in the country legally will do. If we stopped illegal immigration, and employed a LEGAL immigration strategy successfully - the notion of a $15 minimum wage would become a moot point. The floor of wages would rise, nobody's give a shit about the minimum wage for nobody would be paying just the minimum wage. If mowing lawns for a landscaping company paid $15 an hour, countless Americans and Legal Immigrants would work those jobs.
