CNN host thinks Andrew Yang is a white nationalist

He descends from Chinese, but is now American. On top of my head, I don’t think any presidential candidate let alone president has been born-in Americans. Trump is a 2nd gen from Germany.

He does not seem anti China, but what he is proposing is alarming. It would introduce a soft Chinese style governance in US, which might upgrade their nation and make it a more dangerous competitor. A more advanced, effective, but silent US is a much bigger threat than one that’s falling behind but super loud.

American companies choose to invest mainly because they have no choice. Apple etc. have to follow where the latest technology is.

But it is true that China doesn’t want America to collapse, or it wouldn’t have lent money, sold critical goods during wartime, or let it off that easily in the trade war.

However, the reason is not that they’re friendly, but because China has no choice. One of the biggest threats facing the country is a lack of consumers due to lowered population. With BRI and seeking the open door approach instead of tearing down US economy in the trade war, Beijing is trying to rally a new generation of consumers, so that it can outsource consumption to them 20-40 yrs down the line when population aging sets in.

So it is in their interest to keep US propped up, but not in their interest to have a more powerful America, which might behave militarily aggressive or simply learn how to create exclusive goods by itself.
