CNN Went Full Retarded...Again

What makes the right so objectionable to the left is that it is starting to beat the left at its own game. But we should remain humble--we still have a lot to learn. The left has been winning rhetorical battles hand over fist for at least half a century now, and have chalked up another one in the wake of Weinstein.

This should have been a slam dunk for the right. A left-activist entertainment mogul turns out to be a rapist and many in Hollywood knew and covered for him for years. Fate basically teed this up for us folks, yet with the "grassroots" #MeToo campaign it has turned into yet another progressive triumph. How the hell did that happen?

Basically the left always has a rhetorical contingency plan. They're really great at it. They work both sides of an issue. Did the Million Man March go off without a hitch? That just means that blacks have a legitimate grievance and whites need to make reparations as swiftly as possible to assuage their anger. Did BLM basically burn down one of its own shithole neighbourhoods? It just means that blacks have a legitimate grievance and whites need to make reparations as swiftly as possible to assuage their anger. You see, whether you're in the right or in the wrong it still serves as a rhetorical victory.

This is exactly what happened in the Weinstein case. Had these allegations turned out to be spurious, it would have been spun like this: an innocent Jewish man has been railroaded by yet another right wing conspiracy. Since it looks like he actually was a rapist, it gets spun like this: this is just one of innumerable examples of the rape culture promulgated by the right wing. If they're innocent, they're innocent and virtuous. If they're guilty, they're innocent and virtuous.

They are good, they are so fucking good. The right could learn a thing or two from this. Thankfully the right generally has reality and truth on its side and the left generally does not. But you don't win rhetorical battles by pointing out facts and reasoning soundly. How should we evolve and change our tactics in a bigger scale when we don't have the media nor institutions?
