So......is this it?

I know, but sometimes it's the flippant response that really frames the problem best. I also responded to your post in the middle of a long dark night of the soul.

I have projects and some time off desk. I place and monitor incoming ILL requests, I have some collection areas that I'm responsible for (weeding and browsing the trade journals for potential additions), and I edit and update web pages (using an interface, I can do baby level HTML code edits and that's it) as assigned. None of these are really all that challenging though.

I've gently but clearly told my boss I want to be kept busy and yesterday told him I'd like to have more hours in order to get more involved in long term projects. Also managed to work into the conversation that housing is more expensive than we realized in this area so I think he has gotten the message that I'm likely to leave for a FT job if I can get it. But in an ideal world, I'd get 5-10 more hours a week where I am coupled with more interesting work. I LOVE having extra time with my daughter and I don't want to give that up if at all possible.

I guess the heart of my problem is whether I can really find fulfillment in a public library. I've seen the municipal salary tables so I know that I could make enough money where I am given enough hours, but I just don't know if this is for me after all. Tell me internet strangers, will it get more intellectually stimulating?
