Conparing self produced music to The Professionals

[Part 2 of 2] (Posting part 1 of 2 in 9 minutes)

Anyways, back to youtube. Let's go back to the start of this video. At least you have the balls to show what you look like. Me, it's like that balding guy from earlier. My look is bad for business so it ain't happening. hahaha.

ok let's rewind this Olympia video to the beginning. Watch what's going on, what are they doing with the camera angles, what are they filming. What's happening on the screen with this lyric text. It's a fair bit of work compared to audio only. To do any of this and put time into projects, not much spare time per day after work. So you have to get a handle on the addiction to distractions, if you want to put craftsmanship and time into a project. Either that, or drag on the release date.

We're back to 24 sec here.. filming in a little room. What did I say about things, use your imagination. A little bit there. A minute in.. it's ok. At least the music has more groove than the other tracks so far. It's "good". So that's a step up above "fair". haha.

What you want to do is have fun and joke around a bit. That helps. So you're doing a bit of that.

1:13. interesting how you bring it down and there's some dialogue. Joking around a bit while having some beer. See, have a bit of fun. Your buddy though, he looks like he's going on a bad acid trip in a small room. Depressed about how your lives aren't successful. Well, I'm trying to tell you how you can fix that.

1:36.. your buddy gazing in a stare. You can tell he realizes his life sucks but he's not sure how to fix it. I'm trying to tell you how you'd do that. It's called long term projects with craftsmanship put into it.

2 minutes in here.. so how old are you guys.. in your 20's. Better quit fucking around because after 30, way less odds of going anywhere with the music.

Done that video.. at least it was "fair" product. Tried to do the lyric video. See, it's ok this one. The volume isn't clipping like raging lunatic. Much better to have it around -6dB than way past 0.

What's next. "Homesick - Bikes Through A Graveyard". "Jul 22, 2016". What's been going on since then, that was not this past summer but the one before that. What are you busy doing there instead of music?

20 seconds in here.. Another lyric video while riding a skateboard. Sounds like some live jamming with drums now. Audio quality is kinda rough. Only way to describe this is like if you're recording it with a ghetto blaster cassette tape.

30 seconds in here, somebody's playing bass. The whole thing just feels like bad garage jam where they're not all that seasoned and can barely keep it together. If that's the case, might wanna record things multi-track. It's not terrible. At least it sorta mixes but something's off here. Maybe some guitars are a bit off key, who knows.

Halfway through.. so ya got the distortion on the mix vocals. Let's take a look at this waveform. 720p at least. The video, looking down at the skateboard while moving forward. At least this one isn't clipping it's around -5dB so that's ok. But still.. something's missing with your tracks having "oumph". It's just all tinny or something. Meanwhile this one has bass and drums at least though. What is it causing that, bad mics from too far away. At least this one has some bass though, so I guess it's "ok".

Let's go back to the video and restart it, observe what's being filmed, the text on the screen. At least the audio's not clipping. So what are you singing about here, "Bikes Through A Graveyard". Like WTF is this even about. Let's try to pay attention to what he's saying as it goes along.

Restart this one here. 20 sec in, it's actually not too bad this track. What you're saying is interesting too about biking around and falling asleep in these odd outside locations with whoever. The other tracks wasn't really paying attention to what you were saying haha. More distracted by the deficiencies.

ok let's continue. 30 sec. it's interesting with this camera angle looking down at the pavement while skateboarding. Not sure what this even has to do with the song, but hey, better than nothing, right. Some kind of video. It's a lyric video too usually those aren't all that thrilling with edits.

Minute in.. see, you're writing about stuff here. Just keep writing about whatever, even if it's stupid. You're singing along with the music, it's ok. Got that distortion on the vocals like punk.

It's ok here with the camera pointing down at the feet. Sometimes it's not good to be filming your faces all the time. Could be bad for business.

1:15, winding 'er down. These songs are pretty short. But sometimes they are in this sort of kind of punk rock genre.

Pretty boring video though with no edits, only looking down at the skateboard. The track's kinda short as if you have no attention span and would run out of gas if you wanted to think of more parts to it or something. Might want to do that though, so your songs are at least like 3 minutes like most probably are on the radio. They used to have this 3 minute range I think because vinyl singles would only last that long, is that what it was. This 1:25 that you have here, a little short. NEXT.

"Homesick - Rynn EP", Published on Jul 2, 2016. 11 minutes 47. I don't know if I have time to check this all out. I think we'll wrap 'er up at this here. hahaha.

A couple pointers for ya.
