Current Demarcus Cousins or Prime Kevin Love?

I was not otherwise planning on responding further here, but you immediately called the argument moot and described part of what I wrote as seeming disingenuous, so here I am. I also noticed I had a couple of dumb typos in my first comment so I wanted to pop in and explain myself by pointing out that it's Labor Daay Weekendd woooo!

Anyway, KLove put up similar offensive stats on similar volume a few years ago, yes. That does not mean he is better and it does not make the argument moot. It is part of what needs to be considered when comparing the two players, and it is nearly a draw if you are looking specifically only at Love's 11-12 and 13-14 seasons and two of Cousin's most recent seasons.

Points per FGA is not a robust advanced statistic, however it is useful for comparison and discussion because it takes into consideration a player drawing fouls. You have possessions, some of which you use to make a field goal attempt. You miss some shots but also get fouled on some shots. TS% is not perfect when it comes to taking free throws into consideration and isn't the end-all/be-all of scoring efficiency stats. Now, I was previously looking at KLove's recent seasons. I see your point about comparing number 1 options. If we are looking at those two particular seasons in Minnesota when KLove had his best numbers, then those points per FGA are very close and you need to look at the eye-test a little more. When it comes down to the meaningful statistical comparisons, the main differences lie with Cousins' higher turnovers and Love's lack of blocks down low. Having watched Cousins for a number of years, I'm confident when I say I would trust him to get a bucket when needed. I've seen plenty of Love, though not much of Minnesota Love, so I can't say for sure, but I would think it is less likely he can get a bucket at any time like Cousins can.
