Daily Discussion & Transfer Thread (September 14, 2022)

Sessegnon was a vital part of the second half of last season when we looked like one of the best teams in the league, not only results wise but in our playstyle as well. There’s all this talk about how unfair it is that Kulusevski has been benched to favor Son, but what about benching Sessegnon for Perisic?

Even if you forget about all that Sess did last season, remember that our two best games this season were against Southampton and Fulham, both games that Sessegnon started. We played great both times, I don’t think we liked a step off of our best from last season.

I think that we are sabotaging our system that worked last season to accommodate for Ivan Perisic. Think about it, what has really changed between our starting XI from last season to this one that’s causing such a drastic change in our playstyle? It’s no secret that we play better with Sessegnon at LWB. Perisic has been great but Sessegnon has been impressive too, and we have more harmony when he plays.
