A doctor actually retaliated against me???

People who do unreasonable things in healthcare are not doing them as an isolated incident or to you personally.

It is likely either part of an ongoing pattern and you are simply the unhappy recipient of this behavior d/t being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Documenting the incident per the facility’s preferred mechanism for handling grievances is the best solution, provided you do not care to experience the second-order effects of this act. If this person is genuinely a bad actor insofar as they are willing to utilize nursing orders for the patient’s safety as a pawn in a chess game to retaliate against nursing staff, then adding documentation to a pile that will ultimately be used to hold them accountable is a reasonable option. Your status as a neutral third party traveler will also likely lend credibility to your claims.
