That's actually a huge misconception, I work in the games industry and this trend gets talked about sometimes. Basically, storage space has not had a lot of innovation. The PS5 has about 650 GB of usable storage space, which is kind of trash. Call of Duty Modern Warfare is 170GB. Games are getting bigger and bigger and storage isn't keeping up. You need to buy most of your games analog, especially if these console cycles are going to be 8-10 years long. There's actually a trend reversal happening with the % of sales that come from digital downloads - it's decreasing.
