Death of Democracy ?

Democracy died over a century ago when we moved to direct election of Senators, a federal income tax, and a central bank whose de-facto purpose was to devalue the USD

A great comment, though I would say our Republic died. People don't even know that senators were not intended to be directly elected. Presidential electors were also not supposed to be directly elected. Imagine that everyone voted on bills before congress on the internet. That would be true democracy and of course an utter disaster (imagine the ad campaigns). The founders rightly realized that most people aren't up to deciding important things and it's probably true now than ever.
