Death Stranding - My Thoughts

It is a pretty divisive game, but I don't mind that. Not every game is meant to be for everyone and the way some people have to criticise the hell out of a game (not you, but you know the type) when it was something they would probably never have enjoyed based on their previous tastes, is annoying. Maybe I'm just getting old, but it was clear from the get go what kind of game of this would be based on all the trailers, the amounts of just walking, the choice of music to match the scenery and moments, etc. People getting surprised that it is a walking simulator is funny when that's what the trailers showed. But again, maybe I'm getting old and it's easy to predict genres and types of media once you've been around the block for a while.

Glad you liked some parts of it! Looks like you fall into the 'I played it for the gameplay' kinda camp? It's hard for me to comment because I loved the story (as well as the gameplay) so I'm pretty biased in my experiences. For example, imo the story is really enjoyable and did make sense, and in fact, it begins to repeat itself in different ways that kinda make it clear one way or the other what is happening. But, if you lose focus for even a little bit, I can see it being difficult to follow. And I liked the indulgent super serious discussions they have, very Kojima turned up to 11. But again, I guess I can see the story being told differently and while I think it would lose its appeal to me, I can see why others might want that.
